We hereby declare that all burners who live south of Highway 92 in the San Francisco Bay Area are officially part of South Bay Burners region!

SBB MAPWho are these SouthBay Burners?!

There are about 2000 Burners in the larger south bay area who pARTicipate in parties, workshops, fire practices and pot lucks – so there is lots happening in our own backyard!

Our region includes over 60 Theme-Camps that have originated in the South Bay or have members living in the South Bay.

Browse through our Theme Camps page to learn how to connect with Burners in the southbay area region, and/or find out how to start your own Theme Camp or Village!

Who are the Burning Man Regional Contacts for “Southbay”?

South Bay Burners Regional was founded in July 2002, when 150 burners converged in San Jose to meet their neighbors and get psyched about the playa.  Since RealGirl became the Regional Contact in 2006, we have grown and morphed into an eclectic bunch with diverse interests which is far greater than any one camp or culture.

In 2016 two additional Regional Contacts, Manea and DirtyCurlie, joined RealGirl to continue outreach, plan events, and foster community art for our Burner and non-Burner communities.

What do the Burning Man Regional Contacts do anyway?!

The Burning Man Regional Network plays a key role in the year-round extension of the Burning Man experience, supporting it as a global cultural movement. In cities around the world, Regional Contacts help local Burners connect with each other, while bringing Burning Man principles and culture into their local communities through events and activities, year-round.  View listing of ALL Regional Networks across the globe.

As the Southbay Regional Contacts,  we continually strive to include all Burning Man enthusiasts in the south bay region, and connect the community of Burner artists, performers, newbies and the seasoned with one-another.  So we either pARTicipate in local community events, or we sponsor & host events on a regular basis.

  • 3rd Thursday Meet&Greets
  • Community events: Burning Mensch, First Friday, SubZERO
  • Theme-Camp Round-Table, Costume X-change, Newbie-BBQ picnic
  • Precompression and/or Decompression.

Browse through Upcoming Events to pARTicipate, or view our Past Events to get a better idea.

We want to include all the Southbay Burner activities on our official Regional website.  So please Contact us directly viasouthbay@burningman.org if you want to post your events, art-projects, camp-information, etc on this site!
