Not everything that happens at Burning Man stays at Burning Man! The City of San Jose and Burning Man organization are bringing art to the Southbay through the “Playa to Paseo” partnership, over the next 3 years.
March 9th Closure Ceremony of ‘Sonic Runway’
The first of the art installations through Playa to Paseo program has been the “Sonic Runway“, the light-art installation by Rob Jensen and Warren Trezevant that came to the playa in 2016, after debuting Chengdu in China and then in London, it is making it back to North America to city of San Jose.
Sonic Runway installation opened on November 3rd, 2017 and has since dazzled and delighted the community. But all good things come to an end, and Sonic Runway will be removed after March 9th.
So Join us for a grand closing ceremony & celebration on Friday night, March 9th, to enjoy this fantastic visual art & say your good-bye!
WHAT: The Sonic runway is a light-art installation that converts audio signals into a pattern of lights that shoot down a corridor of 32 arches at the speeds of sound.
WHEN & WHERE: The Closure Ceremony will start at 6:30 p.m. on Friday March 9, in front of the San Jose City Hall — on the Santa Clara Street sidewalk from Fourth to Sixth streets. The formal Fashion-Show on the runway will start at 7:00pm. After the “formalities” are over, you can strut your own fabulous self to show off your Burner fashion!
